The M2B Lab is selected by the
Human Research Program

Dr. Crowe (PI, Xavier University) and Dr. Mortreux (Co-I) research proposal has been selected by the NASA Human Research Program to study Sialylation in the skeletal muscles of animals exposed to simulated microgravity. This work will be done in males and females, and may help us develop new therapeutic strategies targeting Sialic Acid.

MHU-8 Mission Complete

The MHU-8 mission explored the effects of artificial gravity on the body. Mice launched aboard SpaceX27 and stayed on the International Space Station for a month, where they were exposed to different artificial gravity levels.

They came back in the Dragon capsule and analyzed at Kennedy Space Center by an international team.

Dr. Mary Bouxsein's team focused on musculoskeletal outcomes and this knowledge will help us determine the benefits of using artificial gravity in flight, and will allow us to directly compare it to what has been observed in our ground-based Partial Weight Bearing analogs.

The M2B Lab is selected by Space Biology

The M2B Lab has been selected by the Space Biology Program at NASA to study the impact of circadian disturbances and partial gravity on muscle function. This project will study the effects of these two stressors combined in a Lunar mission analog. 

Dr. Mortreux is also involved in the selected proposal led by Dr. Seward Rutkove, that will assess the effects of partial gravity and simulated Galactic Cosmic Rays on neurological and musculoskeletal functions.
